  • Provides policy information and guidance when responding to incidents of possible sexual or racial harassment, and other forms of harassment or discrimination.
  • Advises the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost on cases concerning faculty charged with sexual or racial harassment, and other forms of discrimination.
  • Serves as the primary Campus Complaint Resolution Officer for the resolution and investigation of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct and other harassment or discrimination complaints against faculty.
  • Provides guidance and direction regarding the Faculty Code of Conduct, APM 015, Consenual Relationships / Conflict of Interest Policy
  • Provides guidance and consultation to deans and chairs in addressing issues of sexual, racial harassment or hostile environment; provides direction regarding early resolution and investigation protocols.
  • Investigates complaints of sexual harassment and sex discrimination for faculty, staff and students.
  • Investigates complaints of other forms of discrimination for faculty and students.
  • Works with the Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Equity in matters related to gender discrimination.
  • Provides direction to the Office of Student Conduct in the resolution and investigation of sex or race discrimination and sexual or racial harassment complaints involving students.
  • Provides direction to the Office of Student Conduct in the adjudication of sexual assault and rape allegations.
  • Monitors communication and works collaboratively with appropriate representatives from the University Police Department regarding criminal charges or reports of sexual assault, stalking or rape.
  • Serves as liaison between the campus' central administration and Intercollegiate Athletics on complaints of gender equity and sex discrimination.

  • Directs and coordinates campus education and training efforts for faculty, staff and students, specifically in sexual / racial harassment prevention and generally, on issues of equity and campus climate concerns.
  • Provides in person education and training for academic departments and administrative units.
  • Is available to develop and facilitate specialized workshops addressing department climate concerns with in-tact workgroups.
  • Serves as liaison between Berkeley campus, UCOP and contracted representatives on education and training in sexual harassment prevention and nondiscrimination.
  • Coordinates education and training for students and student employees
  • Monitors and reviews campus compliance regarding fulfilling requirements for sexual harassment prevention education for supervisors and faculty under California State Law AB 1825.
  • Serves as intake, advising and referral resource on concerns of sexual, racial harassment, hostile environment or other discrimination issues.

  • Supports office collaboration with Labor Relations regarding reviews of external agency (e.g., DFEH, EEOC, and OCR) complaints for claims of discrimination involving faculty or students.
  • Serves as liaison for investigations between the campus' central administration and system-wide partners, such as national laboratories and medical centers.
  • Investigates complaints of sexual harassment for faculty, staff and students.
  • Investigates complaints of other forms of discrimination for faculty and students.
